Abstract:
The event on Golgotha brought about a huge moral revolution. From this event a new world thinks, feels and lives as the entire Christianity. We are all called to prostrate before the Cross and to participate in the bloody drama that unfolds on it, in the soul and body of the Crucified One and ours, so that we can imagine with our minds and see with our eyes the insults endured by the blessed One, the passions of the One without passion, to see how much He loved us and was „rewarded” with so much hatred, how much has humbled Himself, the One who is not contained by nature, how much He suffered to prepare for us the Table of divine Gifts. The act of redeeming the human race, accomplished through the Savior’s sacrifice on the Cross, shows us that sacrifice lies at the foundation of all noble and great deeds. Crowning and victory are the fruits of the cross and sacrifice. No victory and no reward is obtained without suffering, without restraint and renunciation, without cross and sacrifice, as the Savior said: „Whoever wants to come after Me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow Me” (Mark 8, 34). The ideal of Christian perfection is won only by crucifying our own passions on the cross of self-denial. We must overcome our self-centered nature and sacrifice the old man of sin so that the new man may rise in the renewal of life and the holiness of the truth. In the days of the Lord’s Passion, our spiritual deeds will borrow new strengths from the cross of suffering endured by the Savior for us humans.
