Abstract:
The spirit of despair mentioned by Saint Ephrem the Syrian has been rigorously organised by the present technocracy, which has imposed a swift, artificially amplified pace. We are simultaneously being subjected to pressure generated by numerous tasks (the phenomenon of multitasking was analysed by various scientific branches) and to an ever-increasing speed. Several studies in neuroscience have shown that multitasking is a cause for the dissipation of the mind, lack of focus and the inability to develop a personal reflection, obtained in a state of inner concentration. Also, the results of research in neurosciences emphasized the erosion of empathy due to the artificial speed imposed by the present technocracy.
