Abstract:
The present study shows us George Coșbuc in a less known position, that of the Christian Moralist and Folklore gatherer. The villages’ life and morals has imprinted in the poets’ life a deep mark, even from his childhood, which later on became a source of inspiration for his writings. Though secondary to his poetry, his other contributions are many, found especially scattered through forgotten magazines. Fr. Lect. Ph.D. Marin Velea sketches a beautiful portrait of the author, mainly on his religious and folkloric line. Thus, we have in front of us important themes of Romanian folklore, shown in original and interpreted both by G. Coșbuc and Fr. Velea.
